Nijmeh Square: The Nijmeh square is also known as Place de L'étoile. It had been designed during the French Mandate (which ended in 1943), and was named as such because the streets diverge from it's center in a star-like fashion. A photo exhibition was taking place in January 2003, done by Mr. Ayman Trawi, comparing, from the same perpective, each and every building site in Beirut central district after the war and after the reconstruction done by SOLIDERE. Those huge panels had colored posters comparing, from the same angle of view, the streets and buildings during the war era of 1975 till 1990, and the way they were transformed after the reconstructions done by SOLIDERE.
